On Thursday, 29th August, HRH The Princess Royal was warmly welcomed at Aros an Rubha to officially open the community hub.

Accompanied by HM Lord-Lieutenant of the Western Isles, Iain Macaulay, The Princess Royal also visited the offices of the Point and Sandwick Trust (PST), where she met with Board members, staff, colleagues from the Croft Woodlands Project, and our team at the Energy Support Unit.

We had the honour and pleasure of meeting Her Royal Highness, who displayed a deep understanding of the challenges we face locally, particularly regarding energy costs, fabric limitations for certain building types, and regulatory restrictions. She also recognised the urgent need to improve the distribution of wind energy to the areas that produce it. Her genuine interest and knowledge added valuable insight to our discussions.

As you can see from the terrific photo captured by SandiePhotos, we were thrilled to have had this opportunity.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Point and Sandwick Trust for making this meeting possible, as well as to everyone involved locally and in Point for their time, effort, and exceptional organisation in preparing for the visit.
