We are proud to share the success of the Point and Sandwick Trust (PST) initiative, where our Energy Support Unit (ESU) has played a pivotal role in reducing fuel poverty on the Isle of Lewis. Over the past 18 months, we have distributed £250,000 in grants to local households, offering substantial relief to those most affected by high fuel costs.

With 55% of residents facing fuel poverty—an alarming rate two to three times higher than the mainland average—these grants have made a significant impact. On average, households have received £1,000, with those in severe need benefiting from up to £1,500. The funding, carefully allocated based on need, has been essential in supporting our community.

Our ESU, funded by the PST community wind farm and managed by us, continues to make a positive difference in the crofting communities of Point and Sandwick. We remain dedicated to providing this service and support and look forward to further alleviating fuel poverty in the area.

Stewart Wilson, Director, said: “Our Energy Support Unit has been a lifeline for many families in the Point & Sandwick Trust area, offering not just financial relief but also practical solutions to improve their living conditions. We are committed to continuing our efforts to combat fuel poverty and enhance the quality of life for our community.”
